Acupuncture
Chinese Herbs
Sports & Remedial Massage

Margaret taught archaeology at the University of Birmingham, until in 1993 began  retraining in sports and remedial massage at the London School of Sports Massage, and then in acupuncture following experience of both, after injuries resulting from years of  marathon running.   Her acupuncture training was first at the London School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, and then in Kunming, China.  She later studied Chinese Herbal Medicine at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading. Margaret is a member of the British Acupuncture Council, the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine and the Institute of Sport and Remedial Massage. In 1995, with her colleague Nick, she set up the Birmingham Centre for Chinese Medicine

By combining deep massage, acupuncture and other aspects of Chinese Medicine, she has developed a special expertise in treating sports injuries and other musculo-skeletal problems.  She has treated international athletes, including working at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002.   She has also considerable experience and success in treating infertility and other gynaecological conditions with acupuncture or Chinese herbs.

Margaret is a keen runner and enjoys everything from track and cross-country running to marathons and ultra-marathons.  At her best she was a 3:08 marathon runner, and was recently ranked in the UK top 10 in her age group; she is very happy to give training advice to new marathon runners. Margaret shows her Cairn terrier dog Tigger when they are not enjoying dog agility together.  In quieter moments she has spent the last 12 or more years struggling to master the Chinese language.
